Chongjin Airport
Chongjin Airport, known within North Korea as Orang Airport, is a small airport located approximately 40 kilometers away from Chongjin, North Hamgyong in North Korea. Built by the Imperial Japanese Army, Chongjin Airport is now controlled by the Korean People’s Army. The airport is normally used by military, though a few number of civil flights operate there.
The airport also serves Rason, which is about an hour and a half’s drive away.
There is one runway in Chongjin Airport, originally 1200m long, but was extended to 2000m. There are plans to further extend the runway to 4000m to allow it to serve as a second international gateway of North Korea.Other Information
